Victoria Times Colonist
This is the newspaper in Victoria, BC, which I write for. It is a great source of information on current happenings around Vancouver Island and a site where you can read many of the food articles I’ve written. To do the latter, simply enter Eric Akis into the search engine.

This is the flagship website for Canwest Global Communications, which owns television stations and newspapers across Canada, including the Victoria Times Colonist. You’ll find national and international news there and, for foodies, a lifestyles section that offers a steady stream of food- and drink-related articles and recipes.

This is a large and impressive bookstore in Victoria with a great selection of cookbooks. They are located at 111-1644 Hillside Ave.

Munro’s Books
This decades old establishment in downtown Victoria has been called the most magnificent bookstore in Canada. It’s located at 1108 Government St. and, for book lovers, is a place you must go to when visiting Victoria.

Barbara Jo’s Books to Cooks
This fabulous store is filled with hundreds of food-related books on every topic imaginable. Barbara Jo’s also offers cooking classes and special events by visiting authors and chefs.

Cookbook Co. Cooks
This bustling Calgary business is a cookbook store, a fine food shop, a quality kitchenware outlet and a cooking school. If you’re a foodie and in Calgary, stop in and check out this store located at 722, 11 Ave. SW.

This quaint, downtown Toronto store is the place to buy food-related books on hundreds of topics. They are located at 850 Yonge St.

Well Seasoned
This well-stocked gourmet food and kitchenware store is located in Langley, BC, at 302c, 20771 Langley By-Pass. They also offer a wide variety of cooking classes and do frequent samplings of the products they sell.

Powell’s Books
This chain of bookstores, located in Portland, Oregon, has an incredibly diverse selection of cookbooks. Their downtown location, 2720 NW 29th Ave., is so large they provide a map to help guide you through the store.
